Choosing the best photo for your pet portrait :)

This is a simple guide to help you choose the best photo possible when you order a portrait!

I work directly from a photo so it's important that it is clear and captures the subject accurately. The better the photo the better your portrait will turn out! Here are some tips:

  • The photo should be very clear and high resolution, the more details I can see the better.

  • It should be well lit with no dark shadows, natural lighting often works best.

  • The photo should show every part of the subjects face. For example, if the photo is cropped and doesn’t show your pets ears, then the portrait will also have to be cropped.

  • When sending the photo make sure it is the full size photo (no screen shots), for example, choose 'actual size' when emailing or messaging :)

  • It should capture your pets personality!

If you're unsure about a photo send it to me and I will let you know what I can do! :)

I hope this helps! I have included a couple of examples:

The photo above is a great example, it's very clear and well lit. I can see all of the fur directions on her face, all the colours in her eyes and even her little nose dimples!

This is an example of a very hard photo to work from. It is blurry and dark, it is hard to distinguish her eye colour and the fur directions.
